During the 6 years on the Parent Council, I have had the privilege to get to know hundreds of families and heard their personal stories. It has become clear to me that to maintain the Trustee position in this School Board, we need strong voices for ALL parents and we need to challenge the fiscal responsibility of the School Board and ensure they have real processes that impact our students in a positive way, not just checking boxes. As a member of the parent council for the last six years, I had first hand experience in witnessing that this strong voice doesn't exist with the current Trustees, and if we don't make the role meaningful, we will lose it like other School Boards in Ontario.
MY PRIORITIES
-
Parents deserve to understand how decisions affecting their children are made and how public funds are spent. I will advocate for greater transparency, clear communication and meaningful accountability at every level of the School Board.
When parents ask reasonable questions, they deserve reasonable answers.
-
A Trustee is elected to represent the community. I will be accessible, responsive and willing to listen, including when the questions are difficult.
I want to strengthen communication between families, Parent Councils, Trustees and the School Board so that parents are genuinely heard before important decisions are made—not after.
-
School boards are entrusted with significant public resources, and every dollar should be managed responsibly.
Drawing on my professional background in finance, operations, policy and compliance, I will ask questions, examine how funds are being used and advocate for stronger oversight and responsible long-term decision-making.
Our limited education dollars should ultimately deliver the greatest possible benefit to students.
-
Consultation should be meaningful—not simply a box to check.
For major projects and decisions affecting students and school communities, families should receive clear information, sufficient notice and a genuine opportunity to provide input while their input can still influence the outcome.
